Online register meyerfuneralhome.It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph Panzarella (White Plains, New York), who passed away on October 26, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He proudly encouraged 8 of his grandsons in their Scouting experience, and was pleased that 3 of them, to date, earned their Eagle Scout Award. His involvement with the Boy Scouts of America began in the late 1950's as an assistant troop leader, and continued with his son's and grandson,s Pinewood Derby cars into the 1990's. Jim always had an entrepreneurial spirit and he assisted his four sons in starting their own businesses.

He also enjoyed restoring and driving his 1950 Studebaker Champion, and his 1948 Case VAC tractor. Jim took great pleasure in spending time with his family and his dog, Misty. Although Jim held an "exempt" position at Curtis Wright Aircraft, he joined the Navy in 1943 and served on the tanker USS Neshanic (AO-71), and the destroyer USS Cassin Young (DD793). His early passion for horses caught the attention of Diane Wanamaker who became his wife for 61 years.
